Title: ‘Sketch from the Queen’s Drive, Muckross, 1861.’ Also, ‘Muckross from the Forest Drive 1861.’

A panoramic view overlooking Muckross with Loch Léin (Lower Lake) in the distance, from the Queen’s Drive on the slopes of Mangerton Mountain. This road was laid out as a viewing point for the visit of the English Queen Victoria, to Muckross, in 1861. The original of this work is in the Prints and Drawings Collection of the National Library of Ireland, Dublin. A facsimile is displayed here. The view is similar to another large water colour painting by Mary Balfour Herbert entitled, ‘The Lakes of Killarney from the Slopes of Mangerton, 1861.’
