Title: ‘The Stag at Bay.’
Portrait of a large, bellowing stag at centre, with a hound on its right. A second hound is lying on its back in front of the stag. Artist: Sir Edwin Landseer. Landseer was a British artist, well known for his painting of animals. He was born in London in 1802 and died there in 1873. Landseer was a favourite of both Queen Victoria and of the writer Charles Dickens.
